Worlds Apart 'Rites of Spring' Grenache 2024
We loved the 2023 release of this wine so we’re thrilled to report that the 2024 is just as good. Louis has nailed the brief: this is a light and succulent Grenache with heaps of prettiness and immediate appeal, showing cranberry and pomegranate and a hint of blood orange. However what I love about this is that it’s got some serious structure to it, typifying the best Grenache Australia is producing lately. Veins of acid bring plenty of freshness and fine, silty tannin brings integrity to the wine. – Ches Cook, Five Way Cellars.
Not named for Stravinsky’s work, but likely for a song with a similarly edgy approach to music. Knowing Louis Schofield, it is likely a punk band name, or song name. Anyway, this is grenache from McLaren Vale.
A sheath of light, shale-like tannin, succulent acidity, distinct graphite mineral notes, dusty, wild herbs and red cherry, raspberry and white strawberry sloshing through gently. A gloss to texture, a little nibble of hazy tannin, a tang of blood orange to finish, fresh and gently woody-spicy. A fine wine zone for this release, perhaps a gentle pinosity too, and though saying that, a sense of being Italianate too. Kudos, a ripper. 94 points, drink 2025-2032, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.
