Willunga 100 Smart Grenache 2024

The 2024 Smart Vineyard Grenache Clarendon is supple and saturated in flavor. This has more torque, more low-down power than the high-toed aromatics of the Blewitt Springs fruit, and it expresses most clearly in the tannins. This is, while inherently delicate, more gritty and structural than the ethereal Blind Spot from the same vintage tasted alongside. The fruit here is picked seven to 10 days later than the Blewitt Springs fruit. This is layered and texturally complex, with fresh acidity and great drive through the long finish. These are excellent wines—expressions of their places—and they come warmly recommended. 13.5% alcohol, 3.26 pH and 6.61 total acidity. Sealed under screw cap. 96 pts, Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate
