William Fevre Museum ' Le Crioux' Petit Chablis 2014
The importer of William Fevre has just offered us some museum stock of 2014 Petit Chablis. We requested a sample and having just tried it, we've put our foot on 20 dozen for stock.
The wine looks fantastic: 2014 was an exceptional vintage in Chablis and this wine has aged remarkably well, especially considering it is a 'lowly' petit. The nose is elevated and intense, going far beyond the light citrus and saline notes the wine probably displayed in its youth. It seems to have put on considerable weight and intensity, which continues impressively onto the palate. Here the fruit is ripe and cased in a salty crust, but with additional contributions in the form of toasted sesame and nut. The acid is driving and firm but beautifully integrated, and the wine remains linear and long rather than plump and round. Certainly one to buy in the dozen before it disappears. - Ches Cook, FWC.
