Sordo Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2022

Darker fruit profile as usual: dark cherry, cranberry, faint plum, liquorice. Baked terracotta and forest floor bring depth. Assertive yet remarkably fine tannins, and even darker fruits on the palate. Savoury, dark chocolate finish lingers. – Marcell Kustos, importer.

Bottle tasted via Coravin over a month, until, last 3rd uncorked. Sound, competent, beautifully made as usual, recognisable as a Castiglione Falletto of style but reserved, in first tastings, then when opened and with dinner, this really blossomed. Ultra-stylish, disciplined but trying to burst with the characteristic, cranberry, tobacco and distinctive fading flowers. Lovely tight, lively/savoury Rocche palate.
