Serrat Pinot Noir 2024
A mix of MV6, Pommard, 848 and 667 clones. 25% whole bunches and matured in 500L French oak casks (25% new). A medium, bright ruby red. A wonderful bouquet redolent of pure cherry and raspberry aromas together with hints of earth, rose and spice aromas. The still backward and youthful palate is just as promising with its terrific texture and mouthfeel balanced by firm yet supple tannins that bode very well for the future. At this price, it'll be worth having some five to 10 years from now. 97 pts, Phillip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion
This wine is from the original planting of MV6 Pinot Noir, plus a proportion of newer plantings of 848, MV6, 943 and Pommard clone. We added about 30% whole bunch in the ferments in 2024, which has given the wine quite a punchy and fragrant aroma, that evolves nicely as the wine sits in the glass. It was aged in 500 litre French oak puncheons, on lees for 11 months. 25% new Tronacis oak.
The bouquet is dominated by the darker cherry and a plummy hint coupled with red fruit spectrum, strawberry, raspberry, spice, cherry, with detailed fragrance and floral notes.
The new clones are adding an extra level of extract and tannic concentration which is exciting, the palate is tightly wound but underneath a silky and voluminous mouthfeel. Serious extract and density.
