Schoffit Pinot Gris Grand Cru Rangen Clos Saint-Theobald 2023

The nose is very closed, so no amount of swirling will elicit aromas today. The palate is taut, bright, strait-laced and stony, lending unusual tension to Pinot Gris, making it akin to Riesling's shape and vigor. There is body and a slightly salty creaminess in the background, but the drive and the energy are incredible, like a genie in a bottle rumbling away with all this contained energy...needs to be left alone for a decade at least; there is so much to blossom and so much to calm down. 97 points, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous, January 2025.
