Santadi Rocca Rubia Riserva Carignano del Sulcis 2021
Founded in 1960 as a co-operative and regarded as one of the beacons of co-op wineries in Italy, Santadi now has 200 dedicated growers covering 600 hectares of vineyards in the southwestern coastal area known as Sulcis.
Santadi’s vineyards are set in prime, gently rolling land reaching out to the sea in the south-western coastal area known as Sulcis. It is unique in that the sandy soil allows pre-phylloxera vines to survive and thrive, a key factor in the supreme quality of their wines.
This barrique-aged, 100% Carignano cru is a real star and enormous value. It is lush, full of extract and body, with ripe, chewy fruit, supple texture, and noble tannins; it is also extremely cellar-worthy.
Aged 10-12 months in barrique and 6 months in bottle. Importer notes
