Rousseau Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St Jacques 2002
An expressive nose is slowly turning toward the secondary with its attractively complex, ripe and elegant earthy red and black fruit aromas that display spice and herbal tea hints. The energetic, dense and mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors flash a lovely intensity that gradually builds from the mid-palate all the way to the lengthy if ever-so-slightly tangy backend. This is quite sappy and completely coats the palate with dusty tannins. At 17 years of age it wouldn't be a vinous crime to enjoy this now but it remains sufficiently austere to suggest that another 6 to 10 years of patience would be well rewarded. Tasted several times over the years with largely consistent impressions. Drink 2027+. 93 Points. Allen Meadows, Burghound (2019).
