Rockford Rod & Spur Shiraz Cabernet 2022

Shiraz 54%, Cabernet Sauvignon 46%.I have a theory that Rockford make a tonne of Basket Press, but the other wines are smaller makes and are perhaps better and more authentic as a result. This is better than the Basket Press for me, and by a margin.

Cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, mint, hazelnuts, cocoa. It’s medium-bodied, a bit juicy, kind of sappy too, with a tobacco and dried herb character, supple powdery tannin, a grainy grip, with a succulent and autumnal finish of good length. It’s kind of mulchy, but a very nice wine all up. Black olive to close. 93 pts, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
