Reverdy Sancerre 'La Grand Rue' 2022
Close your eyes and you’d think you’re drinking high quality Burgundy. This is a refined Sauvignon Blanc, centred around cool stone fruit flavours (fresh cut nectarine) and underlying river pebble minerality. Serious stuff and a reminder that Sauvignon Blanc can reach these heights, when in the right hands and from the right terroirs. – Ches Cook, FWC.
Pascal Reverdy's domaine is based in the tiny hamlet of Maimbray. Maimbray is located in a valley surrounded by chalk hills adjacent to Chavignol and Verdigny. From their small cellar they produce one of France's most highly awarded Sancerres.
New small cuvee made from the oldest vineyard of the estate planted 1936. 100% Sauvignon blanc from 86 year-old vines, hand-picked and sorted, very gentle pneumatic press and fermented in large ovoid oak (from the new and excellent Gonet Lacroix Tonnellerie not far from Sancerre) on fine lees for 11 months. Fabulous depth and complexity yet light on its feet with ample acidity and great line and length. An outstanding new addition to the range made in very small quantities. Very Limited.
