Rafael Palacios 'Louro' Godello 2024
The grape is Godello, the vineyard is 600m metres above sea level planted in well draining granitic soils from all the way on the eastern side of Gallicia, Valdeorras specifically. The wine is centred and features a calm lemon mid palate with soft edges. It is very savoury, well balanced, and lovely gently expansive length. Mitch Milicich, FWC
Rafa's Louro Godello is biodynamically farmed and using 3,500l oak foudre, Louro manages to convey a huge amount of flavour for the entry level wine of Rafa's collection: Texturally there's enough there to recall old world Chardonnay, with subtle, just ripe orchard fruit hanging along a fresh acid line who's slight saline touch recalls the granite soils of the O Bolo. There's a certain tertiary note of forest and moss that adds to the complex nature and old world vibe of Louro. Importer note
