R. Pouillon ‘Les Blanchiens’ 1er Cru Brut Nature 2015

These two wines from R. Pouillon were tasted yesterday and I felt compelled to order them. They both come from vintage 2015 so offer some genuine primary fruit and a raft of complex flavours. The ‘Les Blanchiens’ is brut nature and oxidatively handed, with flavours of almond and cashew with waves of attractive salinity though the wine. The 'Les Valnons' is extra brut and taken from a site planted on pure limestone, giving it attractive minerality, white flower aromatics and a chalky close. Both wines are from the village of Ay.
