Mont Redon Chateauneuf du Pape 1989
Immaculately cellared Châteauneuf-du-Pape from 1989, first of all one of the great vintages, but most importantly the few cases we have on offer have come directly from the Mont-Redon cellar where they have laid untouched for the last 30-odd years. Importer Note
“The 1989 is a pure, well-structured wine, and a classic example of Mont Redon's modern style. There is considerable tannin, as well as a touch of new oak in its closed bouquet of black fruits, spices, minerals, and licorice. Medium-bodied, rich, and concentrated, this wine should last for 20 years. Having tasted this wine from tank in 1990 following its completion of malolactic, the raw materials were awesome. While the wine is still very good, I imagine 50% of the aromatics, body, and flavor were stripped out by the numerous filtrations this wine had to endure. Mature now. 87 points.” – Rober Parker, The Wine Advocate.
