Monchiero Langhe Nebbiolo Anfora 2023

Stefano from Monchiero came through the shop last week with importer Rody Hall (May 2026) and showed a selection of impressive wines. The Nebbiolo in the range are very thoughtfully made - gorgeously aromatic with lovely clarity of fruit and fine detailed flavour and structure.

The 2023 is the third release of this wine, matured for 10 months in an amphora sourced from Trentino. A very seductive nose with acute red rose petal, savoury pomegranate tones and gentle tea like tannin. The amphora intensifies the savoury brightness on the palate allowing the wine to be elegant and sultry whilst remaining strict and structured where neccessary. Mitch Milicich, FWC

Here’s a beautiful wine. It’s fine-boned with gentle dusty tannin, flavours of cherry, strawberry, spice and liquorice root, etched with bright acidity, finishing long, perfumed and savoury at once. Highly recommended. 94 pts, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
