Marechal Auxey-Duresses Rouge 2018
Glass in hand. Don't get to see a lot of Auxey-Duresses. Quite a deep ccrimsen. I has me from the first sniff (after a long day working on Brunello sales) - Dark black fruits, meaty/gamy - earth - on the palate - generous all the way through. Very good balance of ripe fruit, with good acidity balancing the core of fruit. A little savoury complexity starting to develop. Drinking very well now and for short term cellaring. Like it. Marechal have done it again with a lesser appellation.Ian Cook - FWC
Aromatically this is always a gorgeous highly sensual wine; in 2018 it displays a very high toned and attractive blend of cherries, plum, strawberries and a gentle floral top note. On the palate the wine is pure, medium-bodied and very perfumed with good sappiness at the core, very refined tannins, bright acids and excellent focus and grip on the long, tangy and complex finish. One to bring a smile and it is again superb. Importer Notes.
