Mac Forbes Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2024

The 2024 vintage in the Yarra Valley was 1 of extremes with lots of rain early followed by a warm and dry February and March with 1 of the earliest vintages in memory.

Florals, wild raspberry, a touch of rhubarb, spice, earth, this is a serious and complex pinot for its price point and probably the best example I have seen from Mac in his entry level Yarra Valley Pinot. The warm and compressed vintage is shown in a touch more concentration than previous years but still in a lighter style with alcohol on the low side. It's the layers between the sweet fruit and savoury elements that are so appealing,  there's a campari edge to the finish, its very light on it's feet but plenty of interest, really enjoyable.
