Giovanni Canonica’s “Grinzane Cavour” Barolo is an extremely limited and expressive bottling from a recently added parcel outside the commune of Barolo, reflecting the same traditional, non-interventionist style that defines Canonica’s wines. The nose is lifted and earthy, with aromas of sour cherry, rose petal, dried herbs, and subtle spice, underscored by a touch of wildness. On the palate, it’s taut and structured, with bright acidity and fine-grained tannins framing savory red fruit, iron-rich minerality, and rustic complexity. The finish is long and soulful.
