Fruit comes from a site that sits 580 meters in elevation with sand and a lot of stones scattered about. There is a clay pan deep underground, and the vineyard was planted in the 1970s.
Since the day these wines started being produced back in 2001, the grapes from this contrada were always a bit more expensive than other areas and the reputation has always been high. In cold and difficult vintages, the structure of the soil with many smaller rocks can give an advantage in absorbing warmth and radiating this during the colder evening hours.
