Envinate ‘Taganan’ Blanco 2024
The 2024 Táganan Blanco has a very serious and stony nose and a dry, chalky and mineral palate. This is always saline—the vineyard is very close to the sea, and the wine gets the influence from there. It can remind you of the sapid character of some wines from Jerez. It has the nuances of the field blend, in a subtle and elegant way. This matured in 350- and 600-liter barrels. It's clean and precise, with 12% alcohol, a pH of 3.06 and 7.05 grams of acidity. 5,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2025. Drink 2025 – 2032, 96 pts, Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate
Farmed in the town of Taganana on the isolated, wild north-eastern corner of Tenerife. This village was originally settled by the Portuguese and consequently vineyards here are planted with a dizzying array of obscure old varietals. Listan Blanco, Marmajuela, Gual, Forastera Gomera, Vijariego, Malvasia, Verdello all make a cameo in Taganan Blanco. Each parcel and where possible each varietal is handled separately. The soils here are mostly basalt but dramatic vertical fracturing has deposited significant amounts of other volcanic rock and soil through out the village. It's low pH, saline, slightly wild and hedonistic. Importer’s notes.
