Elderslie Gamay 2022
Elderslie is a project lead by Adam and Nikki Wadewitz and David Lemire MW (Adam and David both current CEOs of Shaw+ Smith). With Elderslie, the three are looking to champion varietals that are appropriate to the Adelaide Hills despite not being planted widely throughout. Adam came past the shop last week and these wines are probably his best to date under this label…
Purity of flavour continues here with the 2022 Gamay. Red petal and red cherry aromatics and a palate that is well defined and nicely balanced. Wild strawberry flavours sit calmy alongside damp earth and moss, with freshness of acid a hallmark. Medium bodied at most and really pleasant drinking. – Ches Cook, Five Way Cellars.
85% destemmed, 15% whole bunch, basket pressed with 1 new barrel in the mix. Poised bramble and gently autumnal tones, the juice is pure and clean with plush and fine tannins, sitting in a delicate and lighter zone where freshness is preserved and depth is underlying. A crushed rock, mineral exposition with varietal character and great length. Mitch Milicich, FWC
