Domaine Vincent Dureuil-Janthial Rully Blanc 2020
This is the estate's village white, coming only from domaine fruit. The 2020 was drawn from five organically managed plots: La Martelle, La Bergerie, En Guesnes, Chaponniere and Le Meix Cadot. The vines have an average age of 40-plus years, with the oldest approaching 100 years - staggering for the Chalonnaise. Dureuil's fastidiousness has produced a super-intense, vibrant white, with a lot more chalky tension and flesh than you should expect for the level. The wine was entirely vinified in barrel, with 20% new oak (Vincent uses the Chassin cooperage, whose barrels are among Burgundy's finest).
'The 2020 Rully Blanc is deep and vibrant, revealing notes of pear, freshly baked bread, Meyer lemon, mint and hazelnuts. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with lively acids and an elegant, complete profile, it's beautifully balanced.' 90+ points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
