Confuron Cotetidot Vosne Romanee 2021
Note: from Murailles du Clos, also known as Porte Feuilles, and Les Jacquines
Producer note: Yves Confuron (who is also the régisseur at Domaine de Courcel in Pommard), succinctly described 2021 as "having a largely miserable growing season but one problem we almost completely avoided was the frost because we pruned so late. We picked from the end of September and brought in clean fruit and though yields were better than what we realized in 2020, they were still only 21 to 22 hl/ha. By contrast, potential alcohols were excellent at 13.5% so nothing was chaptalized. As always, we used 100% whole clusters and had no problems with the vinifications. As to the wines, their defining element is the freshness and transparency along with excellent balance."
Tasting note: A notably spicier mix features notes of both red and blue pinot fruit along with a floral top note. The sleek, delicious and energetic medium weight flavors possess better concentration and a lovely texture while displaying solid length on the moderately austere and markedly firm finale. This robust though not rustic effort will clearly need at least some patience. Allen Meadows, Burghound.
