Catlow & Co. Grenache 2024

Catlow & Co. is the second label for small Beechworth producer Sentio. We tried their 2024 Grenache recently and absolutely loved it. This is a light wine with beautiful flavour definition and transparency. For me, it's an ideal summer red due to its energy and slender frame, all offered at no sacrifice of flavour or ripeness. Co-winemaker Mu Andrews tells us that he is chasing a Sierra de Gredos style of Grenache as opposed to anything Australian (think of the Comando G wines from Spain, if you have had them) and I can see exactly what he is talking about. In fact, I think he's right on the money with this release. Think red liquorice, pomegranate and orange zest, intermingled amongst tight red berry fruit with a real pop of flavour. A delicious and very reasonably priced wine for the season ahead. - Ches Cook, Five Way Cellars.
