Canobolas Chardonnay 2023

Jonathan Mattick from Canobolas recently popped into the store to run us through his 2023 releases and we saw a signature cool climate expression across the suite of the wines. Canobolas are a certified organic producer with their 1985 planted vines sitting between 700-800m elevation. This is a very modern and elegant chardonnay with lemon, grapefruit and nutty elements sitting nicely together in harmony. While it undergoes 100% malolactic conversion you don't see any overt creaminess or broadness on the palate. That cool climate acidity keeps the wine very light on it's feet, I found the wine's subtlety very appealing. Very good length. Cameron Roebuck, FWC.
