Canobolas Cabernet Franc 2023
Cabernet Franc seems to work very well up in Orange, with other standout being interpretations from Ross Hill and Bloodwood. This is a silky medium-bodied example showing blue florals and blue fruit, black tea and distinctive violet aromatics. Tannin is present but fine and acid also plays a role without interrupting. The brightness of the fruit and the slurpable texture is really enjoyable. – Ches Cook, Five Way Cellars.
Cabernet Franc has found a wonderful home in Orange with Bloodwood, Canobolas and Phillip Shaw making excellent examples. Pretty much the best wines in Australia from this varirty. The age of the vines is very important to the success of this variety. Smokey mulberry and bluberry fruit with a smoky tea like quality. Brown spices, nutty dusty earth notes, and effortless in the mouth. Medium bodied, with lots of smooth finesse. Absolutely delicious. Ian Cook, Five Way Cellars.
