Sherry is one of my favourite styles of wine from anywhere in the world. The interest, flavour and complexity that the best wines of Jerez posses is often second to none, in my opinion. When offered a chance to try the latest offering from Bodegas Tradicion, we were never going to decline the invitation. These are amazingly delicious and intriguing wines and for those of you who love Sherry like I do, they are worth the investment. Keep in mind that the Amontillado and the Palo Cortado can stay open for months and stored in the fridge once the bottle is opened. The Fino though should be consumed within 4-5 days upon opening. - Ches Cook, FWC.
Generally my favourite style of Sherry as I love the interplay these wines have between salty, doughy flavours, electric energy and oxidative/nutty complexity. All of this is on display in this wine and more. The depth of flavour and the layers of fruit and nut that is on show is immense, with the average age of wine used here a massive 45 years! It’s all toasted almond, roasted cashew, tidal pool, and sea salt. It’s hard to express how overwhelmingly good this is. – Ches Cook, FWC.
Medium-light tawny-amber colour, with an intense and ultra-complex bouquet that combines seaspray and nutty characters, derived from both flor yeast and long barrel maturation. Elegant, savoury flavours build towards the climactic finish. Powerful yet refined, with tremendous line and length. A great wine, especially with consommé or French onion soup. 98 Points, Huon Hooke – The Real Review
