Bel Colle Barbaresco 'Convivio' 2020
It's rare to find quality Barbaresco for under a $100 retail, so it was great to find this from Verduno based Bel Colle.
Beautiful perfume of red berries, sweet spices and fennel frond. As expected, a step up in concentration from the Langhe Nebbiolo though still a good linearity to it. Good ripeness to the red fruit in the midpalate with again soft yet present tannin throughout. Great value for earlier drinking Barbaresco. Jeremy Muller, FWC.
Cherry, mint and fennel, new leather and almond. It's medium-bodied, somewhat juicy strawberry and red cherry, an autumnal sort of thing, tobacco and leaf litter, tea and fine dusty tannin, with a finish of good length. It feels a little advanced in terms of ageing, though that's no problem, and the wine presents as a solid example of Barbaresco from a good vintage. Drink 2024-2030. 90 Points.
