Aphelion 'Welkin' Falanghina 2025

A new wine to the Aphelion stable and a great first rendition. It’s also the first Australian Falanghina I have come across, although I’m told a couple of other producers are also playing with it. Light yet textural with a pithy element to the mouthfeel of the wine. It shows some lemon balm freshness and a pleasant herbal edge. Pleasingly, there is no oiliness or fatness that lesser examples from Campania (it’s native region in Italy’s south) can often exhibit. – Ches Cook, Five Way Cellars.
