Alkina 'Estate' Grenache 2025
Lovely garrigue spice, an earthy plasticene like texture with appealingly dusty edges. There is measured Grenache ripeness and impressive length. This feels right in the spot for the money and is harmoniously balanced. Obvious depth of fruit quality with immense ease of drinking. Mitch Milicich, FWC
Concrete is the vessel choice for this wine. Different ferments conspire to bring the sum of parts together.
Serious feel. Structured, dry and dusty tannins leading the way, dark cherry the fruit core, some roast meat and dried biltong in there too, truffle, porcini mushroom, dried Italianate herbs, a slurp of pomegranate juice and salted liquorice to finish. Salinity a thing in this wine, a minerally vein coursing through. Pleasure zone stuff and lots of stuffing too. Bold, bright, full, fleshy, a touch breathy maybe, but good gear.
