Thomas Braemore Semillon 2023

To celebrate Andrew Thomas' 25th vintage of Thomas wines, I was very fortunate to join him to taste through an amazing vertical of both the Braemore Semillon and Kiss Shiraz. 

Trying 8 vintages of the Braemore Semillon, from this 2023 all the way back to the 2001 vintage. It was an incredible display of the uniqueness of Hunter Valley Semillon and the extraordinary evolution it undergoes with age.  Yet despite espousing the beauties seen when aged, Thommo, has worked hard to create a Braemore Semillon that also has so much enjoyment in youth.

The 2023, looks fantastic, brimming with youthful energy. It's aromatic, with an array of citrus, peach and hints of guava and paw paw (which Thommo says will subside with bottle age). Lovely generosity of fruit in the mouth, it's concentrated and textured. Yet the tightly coiled spring of acid underlines it, reminding you this wine will also reap benefits if stored for 5-15 years.
