Theo Dancer Bourgogne Aligote 2022
A stellar producer and one that knows texture, freshness, quiet complexity in wines. This an aligote that sees 15 months of resting barrel before bottling. Large format bottling only. Was from younger vines in Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, but this is old vine aligote from Meursault now (2022 on as I understand).
Right on and just so. Lemon water, lightly minerally, a touch of glossy miso butter character, hazy green apple, ginger snap biscuits, salted cashews and pure brine and oyster shell. Very fragrant, lots of flavour and yet ultimately fresh. The wine stretches long, almost palate staining in its consistency and persistence. Complex, quiet, beautiful drinking here. 94 pts, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.
Last year, Dancer's Aligote was from young vines in Nantoux in the Hautes-Cotes de Beaune. From 2022, Dancer has started working with old vine Aligote from Meursault, and the quality has gone through the roof. It's made in the same way as the Vincent Dancer whites, crafted using large-format barrel over winter before resting in vat before bottling. There was only one racking, and the wine was bottled with only the barest whiff of sulphur. As for the wine, it is delicious. Pulpy and generous, yet with a long, racy close. There's more depth and intensity this time around, not just from the quality of the year but also the more powerful terroir. Importer Notes.
