San Moro Fiano 2023

For the start of 2024, we went out searching for new Italian whites at the inexpensive end of the market. We lined up 16 or so (all blind) and three wines came out on top. This was one of them. It's Fiano from Southern Italy, a variety more and more producers are playing with in Australia. I found it to have some nice ripe fruit showing pear and pear skin flavours. It has layers i.e. isn't at all thin or lean, but rather generous and slightly textural. The length is also impressive. A great new addition for everyday drinking. - Ches Cook, FWC.
