Robert Weil Rheingau Riesling Kabinett 2022
Compared to the Trocken, this release is drawn exclusively from a selection of the coolest and highest slopes of Kiedrich - principally the steep, southwest-facing Wasseros vineyard that abuts the Grafenberg vines. Another difference is that the fruit is harvested a little earlier, making a wine at least a degree lower in alcohol but no sweeter. The style is a lighter, more filigreed expression with a caressing lightness of touch that dances on the palate. It was raised exclusively in stainless steel.
'This prototypical Rheingau Kabinett is very vibrant, with a slew of white-peach, white-currant and spring-blossom aromas. Very good balance of restrained grape sweetness and crisp acidity. Very clean wet-stone finish.' 92 points, Stuart Pigott, jamessuckling.com
'The 2022 Riesling Rheingau Kabinett was harvested in the elevated Kiedricher Wasseros, whole-bunch pressed, fermented and made in stainless steel. White peach aromas are framed by citrus. The palate is tingling, bright and juicy, with peaches delineated by lemon. The 2022 is incredibly animating and mouth-watering. This pitches around 9g/L of acidity and 32g/L of sweetness. It is dangerously delicious.' 92 points, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous
