Massolino Langhe Riesling 2021
An absolutely delicious start to a great Baroli tasting on 2nd August. ’Lemon, honey, ginger spice, green apple and lemon curd. Really intense in flavour with loads of rocky minerality and crunchy acidity. Quite tight with lots of energy. Very limited. A great wine to get a least a bottle of if you are (and who isn’t) a Riesling fan. Quite a few producers are making terrific Riesling in Piedmont. I believe at Massolino it’s their go to white grape variety. Ian Cook FWC
“From a site in Monforte, situated a 530M above sea level. Concrete tank. On Lees for 19 months. Riesling is perhaps a bit of a white elephant in the Langhe, though it’s not without merit. Rich and limey, stony, a little aniseed. A fairly fleshy palate, a slight petrol thing, some stone fruit in the mix, a gentle chalky texture, and a long and juicy finish. It has richness and intensity, and in short, it’s really good.” 93 points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
