Mac Forbes Woori Yallock ‘Villages’ Chardonnay 2022
Crisp edges but showing nice density of fruit and a slow build up of texture from the front of the wine to the back. It shows green apple, lemon pith and a nice bite of white chalk and acid to close. A degree riper than the previous vintage, from memory, with some depth of flavour that suggests there is more to come from this wine with added time in bottle. - Ches Cook, FWC.
One of our favourite sub-regions due to greater compression and restraint of fruit. Whilst not the coolest of areas, it does get protection from the north giving amazing purity of fruit. Deep sedimentary rock offers wonderful length and such recognisable tension and depth of structure. Always a sleeper. The wine shows delicate aromatics of blush peach skin and orange blossom. Palate is zesty and playful, brimming with fresh citrus, florals and a little custard apple. The tactile back palate draws focus to the finish. - Mac Forbes.
