Jacques Carillon Puligny Montrachet 2022
It's New Years Eve and Mitch and I have drawn the short straw, so we're manning the store tonight. What a great excuse to open something special.... I have chosen this wine, as it's been staring at me since it arrived in to stock six weeks ago. The wine is utterly classic on the nose, showing stone fruit and a hint of summer flowers, perhaps a positive trait of the warm vintage. On the palate the wine is pure but generous, with surprising intensity and fullness. White flowers, pulpy grapefruit, a pleasant lick of black smoke reduction, plus some oily, roasted nots (macadamia and cashew). It has intensity and raw power, with the length of a premier cru. It's a real joy to drink and stare into, so to speak. - Ches Cook, FWC.

From 11 different parcels in 7 lieux-dits scattered about Puligny with an overall average vine age of approximately 40+ years. Pretty, cool and airy aromas of apple, pear, acacia and a whiff of lemon are complemented by delicious and beautifully textured middleweight flavors that possess fine volume, all wrapped in a youthfully austere, clean, dry and well-balanced finale. This is a lovely Puligny villages and worth considering. OUTSTANDING. 89-92 Points, drink 2028+, Allen Meadows, Burghound.
