Heymann-Lowenstein 'Uhlen Roth Lay' Riesling GG 2023
The 2023 Heymann-Löwenstein Uhlen Roth Lay Riesling Grosses Gewächs originates from the Uhlen Roth Lay vineyard in Germany's Mosel region, known for its quartzite-rich, dark-red slate soils with calcareous sedimentation. This unique terroir imparts a stony-mineral aroma to the wine, complemented by notes of apricot, vanilla, and ripe yellow apple. On the palate, it is described as very creamy and juicy, with flavours of kumquats and bitter orange marmalade, leading to a refined finish. Importer note
Very cool and focused with stunning concentration, this demands your full attention, but then you sink ever deeper into its well of stone fruit and wet stone beauty. Everything interlocks exactly in the very long and complete finish. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drinkable now, but bestfrom 2025. 98 points. The 2023 Riesling Uhlen Rotlay Grosses Gewächs brings tansy and reduction on the nose, combining into savoury smokiness. The palate is smooth, rounded and balanced, with stony transparency and immense clarity. This is a well of juiciness with an aromatic, pithy edge of dried orange peel bitterness. (Dry). 93–95 points.
