Georg Breuer Berg Schlossberg Grand Cru Riesling 2022

The "Berg Schlossberg" is located in the bend of the Rhine, where the river has dug its way north again. The steepest vineyards in the Rheingau, with an incline of up to 65 percent, are held here in part by high vineyard walls. The soil here consists of barren Rhine slate and Taunus quartzite and also serves as a heat store. The name comes from the Ehrenfels Castle, which can still be seen from afar as a ruin today. A Riesling with elegant style and fine tannins. Very long lasting and with a monumental depth.   Theresa Breuer   

  Here you can really smell and taste that these were tiny berries that held very little juice and struggled to reach full ripeness, but the result is truly amazing. What an astonishing aroma spectrum this sleek and incredibly focused dry has: everything from wild herbs to jack fruit! Enormous concentration is packed into a very sleek frame (11.5% alcohol), the wine at once imposing and delicate. Limited production. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification.   Sourced from nine different parcels, the 2022 Berg Schlossberg opens with a deep, pure and intensely mineral bouquet with notes of crushed stones and even iodine and a dash of lemon juice. Full-bodied, round and very elegant on the palate, this is an intense, silky textured and persistently saline Berg Schlossberg with delicate bitters on the finely structured and still discreetly astringent finish. It has stunning complexity and refined acidity with grapefruit bitters on the mineral finish. This 2022 has excellent aging potential. 11.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted at the Domaine in September 2023.
