Domaine de Trevallon IGP Alpilles Blanc 2023
66% Marsanne, 10% Roussanne, 9% Grenache Blanc, 8% Chardonnay, 6% Clairette and 1% Muscat a petit Grains.
North facing, limestone and clay soil, very stony. Each grape variety is aged in barrel separately for 12 months without any racking and just 2-3 stirring of the lees. Clarification and fining are with clay. No filtration. 376 cases are made.
Of the 2022 ‘Aromas of cream and white pepper are still restrained, while on the palate there are notes of sweet white peach, perfumed florals, spice, ginger, crunchy green apples and fine citrus acidity. Rather than creating a heady alcoholic wine, the hot vintage resulted in a block in the vines' maturation, resulting in lower alcohol and extra freshness, leaving a combination of both power and delicacy, with nicely integrated oak serving more as a backbone rather than dominating the fruit.
