Crawford River Strata Riesling 2023
Formerly called the Young Vines release but the vines are now over 20 years old, not so young anymore. When tasting, Ian stated truly that many producers would be happy for this to be their top Riesling, such is its continual quality.
It's more floral and lifted than their 'estate' Riesling showing prettier spice, pink lady apple, mandarin and orange oil. An open knit, juicier expression this year, it shows so much immediate enjoyment. The signature cool climate zip and verve kicks through giving a taught finish, thus promising a decade or more life in it to evolve. However, such is it's pleasurability now, you'll struggle to keep your hands off it. Jeremy Muller, FWC.
It may no longer be called ‘young vines’ yet it is still a superb baby Crawford. Still lemon scented with juicier stone fruit in the middle, lime and ginger spice with textured minerality sitting below the generous fruit. Superb quality at the price. Ian Cook, FWC.
