Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Aligote 2022
Back in his Domaine Comte Armand days, Leroux was one of the first in Burgundy to celebrate old-vine Aligote. Working with great, old-vine material and super-precise winemaking, this wine remains at the top of the spectrum. In fact, the 2022 may well set a new benchmark for this bottling, with exceptional texture, poise and balance. The key components are a parcel of 50-year-old vines in Meursault's Les Belles Roses climat and a precious parcel of 85?105-year-old vines in Bouzeron. The vine material in both vineyards is of the high-quality, low-yielding Aligote Dore cultivar. The 2022 fermented and matured in seasoned 12-hectolitre ovals and glass Wine Globes. Fans of this wine will be pleased to hear there's a new Aligote cuvee on the way from old vines in Chassagne. This is super: creamy, layered yet vibrantly fresh.
?Five Star Wine. Benjamin is one of the new intake of the Aligoteurs group. Is that why he has serves his Aligote at the end? Pale in colour with a light green tint. A wonderful fragrance. Fresh pears, a little greengage, a bevy of different fruits, in fact with an appealing acidity to finish and excellent length.? 88-90 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy.
