Michel Gonet Blanc de Blancs Vindey-Montgueux NV
"These elegant grower Champagnes have a combination of weight, texture and verve that betters many much more expensive Grand Marques." - Noble Rot Magazine.
Fruit here is sourced from Montgueux in southern Champagne (home to cult hero
Jacques Lassaigne). The wine holds inherent ripeness, but keeps a tight
and taught shape with nice carry and intensity with a saline / salt crust finish.
In fact, it’s the salt and chalk interplay that dominates the wine and is most
appealing, especially in the second half of the palate where the wine really
shines with an underlying hum of energy. – Ches Cook, FWC.
From two family parcels in the villages of Vindey (aromatic richness, stone fruits and white flowers) and Montgueux (powerful minerality and round complexity). 100% Chardonnay, no malolactic fermentation, dosage: Extra-brut 2g/L. Disgorged February 2024.
