Blanc de Blancs

In early October we gathered a raft of sparkling samples from Australia, Italy and Champagne. I bagged them up and ran a blind tasting for dad, Jeremy and Cameron here at the shop, that way eliminating any bias or preconceived ideas surrounding the wines. Seven wines were tasted and the wine that all four of us chose as our favourite was Idee Fixe Blanc de Blancs from Margaret River. My note from the tasting reads along the lines of the following: this sits nicely in the mouth with a sensation of weightlessness yet no shortage of flavour. Impressive length with a moderate dosage, letting primary fruit flavours of white nectarine and subtle peach slowly reveal themselves. These sit alongside a chalky back-palate and aromas of jasmine.
