Vajra Barolo 'Bricco delle Viole' 2018
Bricco delle Viole one of the more lofty sites in Barolo, ranging from 370-490 metres above sea level (though, admittedly, sea level a little less static these days…).
Dried rose and potpourri, aniseed/mint, dried raspberry, spices. Lots of crunch and freshness to the acidity, a little clay-like feel to tannin and lots of length and perfume. Bright. A little more frisky and less concentrated this year, but still so lovely. 95 points. Gary Walsh, The Wine Front August 2022
With the hoopla over the 2019 vintage, its thrilling to see how good these first 2 2018 wines are. slightly more open with more primary fruit and a touch or earth and undergrowth. a little touch of amaro and softer acidity. Super high quality without quite the cellaring potential. I need more to drink early!! Ian Cook, FWC
