Unico Zelo Truffle Hound Nebbiolo/Barbera/Sangiovese 2022

Affectionately known as ‘Truffle Hound’ - is our early-released, approachable and jovial expression of Barbera & Nebbiolo - we aim to retain the higher aromatics, herbal savouriness for its amaro-like refreshment. For those that favour meaty, gaminess over bright plum fruit. An exploration for umami-like refreshment. It presents with smoky, amaro-like liquorice and cardamom spice. Given drive by a lively and juicy palate-weight and pucker with a bright yet savoury finish. Vegan. Fruit Sourced from the Clare Valley and Adelaide Hills. - Winemaker's Notes

This year it's a blend of Nebbiolo (florals, tannin, savoury touch), Barbera (aromatics, fruit balance, ripeness), and Sangiovese (florals, cherry, redcurrant) all from the same vineyard in Polish Hill River. Harvested at the same time, all hand picked. The Nebbiolo and Barbera are co-fermented and the Sangiovese component is blended in post-fermentation. No oak used for the elevage.
