Taupenot-Merme Gevrey Chambertin 2022
Crafted from Pinot Noir grapes sourced from four disinct lieux-ditsL La Justice, Craite Paille, Les Seuvrées, and Bel Air. The vines, planted between 1968 and 1971, thrive in clay and limestone soils, contributing to the wine’s complexity.
On the nose, it offers sweet, ripe aromas of dark forest fruits, including raspberry, black cherry, and loganberry, complimented by sublte notes of forest floor and spices. The palate reveals a firm, yest balanced structure, with stony undertones giving way to a mouth-watering dark berry fruit length. The wine culminates in a long, elegant finish, showcasing excellent fruit persistence and harmonious sense of balance. Approachable now, but will develop further complexity over the next decade. Importer’s notes.
The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a straightforward bouquet of cranberry, wild strawberry fruit, and a touch of wild hedgerow. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe red cherry and strawberry fruit and fine weight. It just need more precision and nervosité on the finish. Drink over the next decade. 87-89 points. Neal Martin, Vinous Nov 2023
A bright purple, rich generous ripe fruit on the nose with a suggestion of velvet texture to follow, then a higher toned fresh red fruit, some strawberry beneath with a lifted acidity at the back. Very good. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Nov 2023. 90-92 points. Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy Tasted Nov 2023.
