Taupenot-Merme Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru 2020
The family owns 0.85Ha of vines on the grand cru, spread over two plots planted in 1958 and 1959.
‘The 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru was very closed on the nose despite encouragement. This feels very introverted. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, more expressive here in the mouth than on the nose with black pepper, bay leaf and clove towards the finish. Give this a few years bottle age and wait for the aromatics to blossom.” 93-95 Points. Neal Martin, Vinous. November 2021
Touches of wood and menthol can be found on the ripe aromas of black cherry, raspberry and the sauvage. The supple, seductive and very suave larger-scaled flavors possess really lovely intensity that carries over to the dusty, palate coating, powerful and mildly warm finale. This too is definitely built-to-age. Drink 2035+ 91-94 points. Allen Meadows, Burghound.
