Poggio di Bortolone Frappato 2022

Some of my favourite light red have been Frappato - both COS and Arianna Occhipinti come to mind. This is clearly in the same style yet priced significantly less than the former, how good!

This is such a moreish number, a wine where the bottle will disappear oh so quickly. It's floral with juicy cherry and strawberry with complementary musk stick and dried herbs (lemon thyme was my first thought). Perfectly ripe, crisp red fruit in the mouth is energised by its frisky acidity. Only light to medium bodied, it's a perfect red for the warmer months or as a Pinot alternative. Very tasty stuff.
