Pillot’s Santenay comes from two small parcels on the Chassagne side of the village that lie close to the Domaine’s Bourgogne vines: Les Champs Claudes and Les Parons-Dessus. The 50-year-old vines produced an outstanding red in 2023, loaded with dark cherry and anise and some lovely spice from the 20% bunches. The wine was aged only in large format, neutral oak–underlining the classy perfume and structure on offer. Importer’s notes.
“A darker purple, with riper fruit on the nose, dark raspberry and cherry. Plummier too perhaps. Weighty on the palate, still with good enough acidity, last picked and reached 13%. Shows ripe in the context of Thierry’s style. Drink from 2026-2029.” 88-89 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
