Jules Desjourneys Chenas 'La Judgement Dernier' 2019
9hl/ha from 70-year-old vines. No oak. From the lower part of Chenas, therefore close to Moulin-a-Vent. Granitic soil.
Aromas of sweet raspberries and blueberries mingle with vine smoke, spices and rose petals in a medium to full-bodied, polished and sensual wine of exquisite finesse, built around tangy acids and melting tannins, concluding with a saline finish. It's one of the finest bottlings of Chenas that the estate has produced to date.

This wine needs a bit more aeration. The nose is slowly coming to the fore and more into focus. Starting red and slightly hard but softening and showing some of Fabien's spice and maybe a little sauvage angle too. Hmm, vibrant again and more saline too. This has a great panorama of finishing flavour. A smaller wine than the Morgon to start but with an absolutely great finish.
